Canaan Smith Sundown Ready Tour with Michael Tyler
There's nothing like life on the road to transform a promising young talent into a superstar in the making. Case in point: Canaan Smith. Since bursting on the scene with the compelling single "We Got Us," the young singer/songwriter has been touring with Darius Rucker, Dierks Bentley and Florida Georgia Line, and now his latest single, "Love You Like That" is fast becoming a sizzling summer hit. "It's like gasoline in the tank," Smith says. "It's got an energy that gets the crowd high, and I love performing it. The first verse says "I ain't gonna do it like a pretty city boy, I'm a fishin' in the dark nitty gritty boy" and right off the bat, it sets a tone for the message of the song and what's coming next." Smith is an intriguing blend of the everyday working man and rowdy thrill seeker with a poet's heart and pirate's ambition. A native of Williamsburg, Virginia, he grew up singing along to everything from George Strait to Rage Against the Machine. He relocated to Nashville during college and began to perform around Music City's local bars. He landed a publishing deal with Disney Music and teamed with Brett Beavers (Dierks Bentley) to produce his Mercury Records debut. "I've been on the road for two and a half years since 'We Got Us' and I've grown so much," he notes. "I've learned from the audiences how to talk to them. It's my job to make sure the crowd has a good time, and that's so important to me because my live show is such an integral part of what I do. And that connection with the audience influences my songwriting." In addition to writing for his album, Smith co-wrote Love and Theft's top ten hit "Runaway" and co-wrote Jason Aldean's "Black Tears" with FGL's Tyler Hubbard as well as "Party Wasn't Over" with Hubbard and Cole Swindell…the song will appear on Swindell's next album. "Whenever I show up to write a song, it could be either for me or somebody else," he says. "I feel like 95% of the songs that I'm writing on a daily basis I can see myself doing, but obviously I'm not going to have 100 songs on an album, so I have no problem pitching them to other artists." Canaan Smith is a songwriter of considerable depth and authenticity, and he possesses a voice that drives audiences to their feet dancing one minute and can have them crying in their beer the next. "I'm an everyday guy, but I want people to see the layers," he says. "I've known my share of pain and I've got a lot to say."

France Automotive High Performance Electric Vehicles Market
High Performance Electric Vehicles market in France is expected to grow at a CAGR of 36.88% during the forecast period. The cost efficiency derived from the electric vehicles, would help to significantly drive the demand of EHPV. Though these type of vehicles have been introduced recently and their technology is yet at its development stage, the electric vehicle market is expected to gain significant momentum, which would in turn, propel the growth of the high performance electric vehicle market in France during the forecasted period. The growing awareness of vehicle emissions like that of CO2, lower operating and maintenance cost along with increase in EC's initiative to encourage the use of electric vehicles would help to drive the growth of high performance electric vehicles considerably. Consumer perception and willingness to purchase the new vehicle technologies lies at the heart of the successful large scale diffusion of electric vehicles in France.
France is one of the major market in Europe for electric high performance vehicle. The growing popularity in this type of vehicles is primarily due to the increasing popularity of racing events in Europe. Spanish engineering company Applus+ had unveiled its Volar-e supercar prototype at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Developed as per European Commission guidelines and apparently based on the Rimac Concept One, the all-electric Volar-e is primarily built to strike the market for the F1 circuit to be held there. In addition, the government and companies in the private sector are jointly focusing on battery electric vehicles and using eco-friendly transport, resulting in increased demand for EHPV. All teams in the first season of Formula E racing, meant for electric vehicles were supplied an electric racing car built by Spark Racing Technology, in partnership with Renault (named as the Spark-Renault SRT 01E). The chassis was designed by Dallara, a leading chassis manufacturer in the country. These developments prove the fact that France has always been the home ground for the development of electric vehicles in Europe as well as in the global arena.
The implementation of an environmentally feasible public policy at the national and local level and the supply of technologically advanced vehicles produced by French manufacturers have enabled France to become the largest electric vehicle market in Europe. The introduction of various incentives is part of this approach, with in particular the environmental bonus created in 2008 that was aimed at rewarding those who purchase new cars with the lowest CO2 emissions. The bonus currently amounts to 6,300, irrespective of the purchaser, company, community or individual. In addition many French cities have introduced an electric vehicle sharing service (car sharing system). For instance, "Autolib" in Paris, introduced on the initiative of Mayor Bertrand Delanoƫ, and "l'Auto bleue" in Nice, "Sunmoove" in Lyon and "Bluecub" in Bordeaux, etc. Significant involvement of city councils and local authorities in the electro mobility field also plays a critical role in the development of the electric vehicle infrastructure In addition French manufacturer, Renault had sold the largest number of electric vehicles in Europe (ahead of Nissan and Smart). The French market for electric and hybrid passenger vehicles represented 4.8% of the global passenger car market in France in 2014, validating the importance of electric vehicles in the country. Thereby, in the context of favorable electric vehicle infrastructure, the high performance electric vehicle market would surely continue to growth in the forecast period.
The market is segmented by electric vehicle type, and by power range. The demand of pure electric vehicles, would continue to dominate the high performance electric vehicle type market in the forecast period. Some of the key players in this market like Alpine, Renault, Bugatti, BMW, Daimler.
Mordor Intelligence understands the need of unique information requirement in today's fast-paced and competitive business environment, helping you gain the edge over your competition. To download this report visit France Automotive High Performance Electric Vehicles Market

Squeeze
Squeeze

It's 1973 in South London. Teenage friends Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook from the band that will see them dubbed 'The New Lennon and McCartney'. Over 35 years later, with their legacy intact and as vital as it has ever been, Squeeze are still touring and reminding fans worldwide just why they have left such an indelible impression on the UK's music scene. As teenagers on the South London scene, Squeeze setting out their stall early on by facetiously naming themselves after a poorly-received Velvet Underground album, and at the time also comprised of Jools Holland on keys, Harry Kakouli on bass and Paul Gunn on drums - became a fixture of the burgeoning New Wave movement. When Gilson Lavis replaced Gunn on drums everything seemed to fall into place, and word of mouth soon spread about the band - ironically, it was none other than Velvet Underground man John Cale who caught wind in 1977 and offered to produce their debut EP 'Packet Of Three' and much of the ensuing album. Yet it was second album 'Cool For Cats', released in 1979, which cemented their place as one of Britain's most important young bands. Featuring the classic single 'Up The Junction' as well as the title track, it was many listeners' first introduction to the witty kitchen-sink lyricism and new-wave guitar music that has become the band's trademark. With albums 'Argybargy' and the Elvis Costello-produced 'East Side Story', Squeeze even started to make waves across the pond, although in 1980 former Roxy Music and Ace - and future Mike + The Mechanics man Paul Carrack would replace Jools Holland, going on to lend his unmistakeable vocals to the smash hit 'Tempted'.By 1984 Squeeze had disbanded. The chemistry between Tilbrook and Difford could not be as easily dismissed however, and the ensuing record they made together has become the "lost" Squeeze album for many fans. But the band couldn't lay dormant for long, as Squeeze reformed the next year for 'Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti', along with Holland, Lavis and Keith Wilkinson, Squeeze's longest serving bass player. Over the next 12 years Difford and Tilbrook remained the only constant element as Squeeze continued to receive critical acclaim, release albums and tour, with the likes of 'Hourglass' becoming their biggest ever hit in the USA.Despite an official Squeeze break-up in 1999, Difford and Tilbrook continued to make music and gig with the same enthusiasm and abandon that they brought to Squeeze's first EP, either with their own solo projects or with each other. Chris Difford has released two solo albums to date, with a third 'Chris, That And The Other' set to be the first release from the innovative online label Saturday Morning Music Club later this year. Glenn Tilbrook, meanwhile, has released three solo albums, with 2009's 'Pandemonium Ensues' heralding the debut of his other band The Fluffers and saw him recording with Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. Tilbrook has also been an active member of the Love Hope Strength Foundation, which sees him join fellow musicians such as founder Mike Peters (The Alarm), going on treks and climbing some of the globe's greatest landmarks in order to raise money to help treat cancer sufferers throughout the world. As befits one of the UK's much-loved acts, there is no end of Squeeze fans currently wearing their influences firmly on their sleeve, whether it be Mark Ronson, Kasabian, Supergrass, Lily Allen, The Feeling or Razorlight. With their fingerprints keenly felt throughout the fabric of popular music, it is only right that these songs, with their evergreen and popular sound, continue to be played and enjoyed live. And so since 2007, a newly reformed Squeeze have been slowly finding time to play a series of gigs and festival dates, preferring to reaffirm their abilities as a band rather than follow some of their peers who have come out in a blaze of publicity, only to be met with disappointment. The new Squeeze line-up, their most able yet, is completed by Squeeze veteran John Bentley and Tilbrook's Fluffers cohorts Simon Hanson and Stephen Large, and has become an instant favourite on the festival circuit since reforming with appearances at V, Oxegen, T in the Park and Latitude.Squeeze's contribution to music has been noted in 2010 with the site of their first gig being awarded a prestigious PRS For Music Heritage Plaque, which has so far commemorated the debuts of Blur and Dire Straits. It joins an ever-increasing list of Squeeze accolades alongside their recent Ivor Novello for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and their Nordoff-Robbins Icon Award. Chris Difford's lyrics and Glenn Tilbrook's music have survived everything over the years, from the ever-changing musical landscape to their own internal reshuffles and acrimonious breakups - but Squeeze is here to stay, still going strong and still loving every moment.

Charlie Puth
Charlie Puth
with Joel Adams, Hailey Knox
As Charlie Puth gears up to release his debut album Nine Track Mind, it's worth looking back at the extraordinary ride this multi-talented vocalist, musician, producer, and versatile songwriter has been on ever since he arrived in Los Angeles as an aspiring artist in July 2014. In short order, Puth signed with Atlantic Records and co-wrote, co-produced, and featured on Wiz Khalifa's Furious 7 ballad "See You Again" a 4x-platinum smash that topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 12 weeks, tying the record for the longest run at No. 1 for a rap song, and became No. 1 in over 100 countries, while its video racked up more than a billion YouTube views. He followed that up with the British chart-topper "Marvin Gaye," featuring Meghan Trainor, which gave Puth another platinum record and his second Top 40 hit in the U.S. He made the morning talk show and late-night TV rounds (Saturday Night Live, The Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon), hit the road opening for Trainor on her U.S. tour (where fans sang along to every word of his set), and ended 2015 with an array of accolades, including two Teen Choice Awards, a Hollywood Film Award, two American Music Award, MTV Video Music Award, and MTV Europe Award nominations, plus a Golden Globe nomination for 'Best Original Song'. As if that weren't enough, Puth received an impressive three GRAMMY nominations including the coveted 'Song of the Year' category that specifically recognizes songwriters.Along the way, Puth wrote and produced songs for an array of A-list pop and urban artists, including Lil Wayne, Jason Derulo, Stevie Wonder, Trainor, Trey Songz, and Fergie, among others. Entertainment Weekly called him "the next big thing in music," while Forbes predicted Puth would become "a global superstar" a forecast that seemed to be borne out during his promo tours in Europe and Asia, complete with the paparazzi chasing him in France and thousands of fans screaming for him in the Philippines. "I couldn't believe that many people knew me as an artist," Puth marvels. "I played for 7,000 people in the Philippines, and they knew every single word to all of the songs, even the ones that haven't come out yet."While his life has changed since the early years when he would disguise his voice and pretend to be his own manager while cold-calling record company executives, the New Jersey-bred Puth has established himself as a global star by remaining deeply relatable, both as an individual and as a performer. It's a quality that permeates the heartfelt, soulful pop of Nine Track Mind. "The album reflects me as a person by showing how closed off yet open I can be with people," he says. "Even though I don't appear shy times at times, I do consider myself to be a pretty shy person. This is very personal music and I'm opening myself up by sharing it with the world."In addition to the sultry "Marvin Gaye," which Puth says he wanted to be like musical courage for an unassuming guy like him, every song on the album was written to express something he was feeling at the time, whether it was concern for a friend he couldn't be there for in person because his hectic schedule ("One Call Away"), loving someone although he knew it wasn't smart ("Dangerously"), or overwhelm from the pressure of trying to finish the album ("Losing My Mind"). Nearly every song was initially produced in his bedroom, though he did collaborate with a few select songwriters and producers. "My Gospel" was written with Nashville veteran Josh Kear (Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan). "We collaborated on the melody and it came out pretty much in a day," Puth says. "I like when things happen fast." He also worked with accomplished songwriter Breyan Isaac (David Guetta, Pitbull) on the sexy track "Suffer" about the pain and torture you go through when someone you want to be with is playing hard to get. As the final touch on the album, Charlie's good friend and pop singer Selena Gomez added her vocals to the song "We Don't Talk Anymore," which is about cutting off all communication after a break up. "I played this song for Selena and she loved it," Puth says. "That same night we recorded her vocals and we both love how it turned out. I'm so happy to have her on the album."Puth's goal was for every song to sound "soulful with a great big melody and a pop sensibility, but a bitleft-of-center of what people are used to hearing in pop music," he explains. "So it's soulful music, with a bit of hip-hop, and lyrics that hopefully everyone can relate to. I want people to hear the realness in it. I think there's this perception about pop music these days that every act is put together by someone in a suit. That's why I go onstage in a white T-shirt and jeans, because I want the audience to look at me as a regular person but to be overwhelmed by the music. And I want them to be inspired to do exactly what I'm doing following their dreams. Because for years I was completely discouraged by pursuing a career in music. And now songs I've recorded in my bedroom are being heard by millions of people."Puth first fell in love with music growing up by the shore in Rumson, New Jersey. "I didn't grow up wealthy," he says. "But my mom and dad worked really hard and came from the bottom up." He credits his supportive parents for his early music education, citing his idol James Taylor as his primary influence. "My mom would put headphones on her belly and play his records to me while she was pregnant," he says. Later on, Puth's father exposed him to R&B artists like Barry White, The Isley Brothers, and Marvin Gaye, while his mother, a piano teacher, played him classical music and began teaching him piano when he was four years old.Puth played piano throughout his childhood and began studying jazz at the age of 10. As a high-school student, he spent his Saturdays commuting into the city to study classical and jazz at Manhattan School of Music in Harlem. "I thought I was going to be a jazz piano player, but I always had an interest in pop because my parents would listen to all this pop music," he recalls. "I always tried to incorporate pop elements into the jazz I was playing." Puth began listening to more and more pop, fascinated by the way it was produced, especially Max Martin's late '90s work, which led him to buy his first music production keyboard at age 11 and start making his own CDs. Shortly after, Puth began writing his own songs and eventually posting them on YouTube, along with covers. In 2011, Ellen DeGeneres tapped Puth and a friend to appear on her show after their cover of Adele's "Someone Like You" went viral. Puth appeared on the show twice and watched his international fan base grow both on and offline. "It got me in front of 30 million people," he says of the experience. "It pushed me into a different area I never thought I would reach."Puth has since worked with Max Martin (on Nine Track Mind's "Then There's You") and returned to DeGeneres' show to perform "See You Again" with Wiz Khalifa, so in a sense, he's come full circle. And his most fervent wish is that his fans will be as inspired by his story as he is by theirs. "I've gotten some pretty powerful messages from fans," Puth says. "There was one girl who was being physically abused by her parents and she made the decision to run out of her home. She had my music on her iPod when she was running away. I check in on her and make sure she's okay. People go through some crazy shit in this world, and they need some sort of soundtrack to go along with their lives because sometimes it's really hard. It's kind of nice to have a comforting voice or an uplifting melody to help you get to wherever you're going."

Why Business Coaching Is Here To Stay
With the increasing competitiveness of businesses around the world, there has been a corresponding increase in the requirement for business coaching. Both major and small businesses are recognizing the fact that competent business coaching actually works. Business coaching helps to create an environment conducive to the general growth of the business enterprise by training it to make adaptations according to the changes that occur. Even a few years back, it was only a very limited number of businesses that utilized business coaching as an instrument of augmenting their business. Statistics today show that in the US nearly 58 percent of small and medium sized businesses are using business coaching in order to benefit their companies.
Business enterprises are increasingly resorting to utilizing business coaching, as it is a cost-efficient way of achieving results. It assists in developing the skills of the workforce, which results in enhanced performance. People who get the benefit of business coaching have the opportunity of receiving guidance related to the difficulties they are confronted with in their daily lives. Business coaching provides fresh perspectives about the everyday activities of business and facilitates the improvements needed in systems, methods and procedures.
Most companies that have opted for business coaching have reportedly benefited from increased productivity and better work quality. It has been observed that when people receive coaching, there is an improvement in relationships within the team, which in turn results in better quality and enhanced productivity. Many business enterprises weigh productivity by the amount of hard work put in by individual employees; however, this approach does not take into account the significance of synergy and work quality.
Often, in their rush to get their work done, employees have a tendency of disregarding quality, and this results in others having to redo work already done. Increased quality and productivity are actually dependent upon employees making a connection between their individual needs with that of the organization they belong to. Employees that find satisfaction in their work environment work smarter and harder and are an asset to the company. Coaching not only helps individual workers discover their worth but also assists them in attaining their highest performance as a part of a team.
Business coaching also aids in bringing about a thorough understanding of the basic principles of business. Coaching is thought to be the best means of bringing about change, development and growth in individuals, organizations and groups. Coaching is considered to be the most effective means of unleashing, developing and maximizing the potential that each individual inherently has within himself or herself. It serves to attain goals for professional and business success.
Customer service, for instance, is directly related to the level of quality as well as the rate of productivity. When there is improved quality and productivity, complaints made by customers lessen significantly. Conversely, when quality falls below standard, it leads to an increase in complaints made by customers and loss of sales. Coaching also aids in bringing about reduction in cost. Companies that facilitate their employees being coached get back about six times the amount they invest in the coaching programs.
Business coaching is about dealing with human relationships and issues about people that occur commonly across all business sectors. Coaching enables making the company a more satisfactory environment to work in. Plus, it also aids in improving communication, working relationships, and decision making processes. The other things it deals with are building sound teams, improving the working conditions, and decreasing the levels of stress - all of which results in the satisfaction of employees in the organization.
By helping employees deal with their stress, coaching enables them to cope with both their personal and professional lives. And when working relationships are improved it indirectly enhances team spirit. In addition, when there is a high level of satisfaction amongst employees, it results in lowering the turnover of employees in the company. Coaching assists people to recognize their inherent strengths and guides them to use them to the fullest. Thus, business coaching processes are not only about growth, but are also designed to modify behavior patterns and enhance skills. Business coaching works because both teams and individuals experience the beneficial effects because leadership qualities are fine-tuned, and change, creativity and innovation are encouraged.

'My Wild West begins' with an overture, by definition an "introduction to something more substantial." In this case it is Lissie's third studio album and her most personal one to date, a fitting tribute to Lissie's life in California, from her arrival as a fresh-faced singer-songwriter till now, leaving for the Midwest wiser and more self-assured. Bookended by the songs "Hollywood" and "Ojai," it brings out the two extremes of the past decade -- the dashed hopes and heartbreak of the former and the "stability, joy and peace" of the latter. 'My Wild West' represents both a new beginning and a return to Lissie's Midwestern roots. 'My Wild West' was recorded with producer Curt Schneider in his Studio City home -- he oversaw the project as a whole, produced 8 tracks on the record and pulled together the additional material from Lissie's time recording with her band in Ojai and with Bill Reynolds in Nashville. As the album unfolds, we see a more confident Lissie, self-assured and coming into her own power. "I want my 40 acres in the sun," sings Lissie on "Hero," written before she had made the decision to leave California. It details Lissie's life on the West Coast and the empowerment she felt that she could leave and demand a new adventure from life: "I could have been a hero, I could have been a zero, I could have been all of these things." After being signed by Sony U.K., Lissie's two previous albums, 2010's 'Catching a Tiger' and 2013's 'Back to Forever,' came out on Columbia in England and prestigious indie Fat Possum in the U.S., both scoring in the Top 20 of the U.K. charts and Top 5 in Norway, the former going gold in both countries. Stateside, the two releases hit the Top 5 in Billboard's Heatseekers chart, peaked at #5 and #11, respectively, on the U.S. Folk tally and went Top 40 on the Indie chart. "There was always a bit of commercial compromise, like pressure to make the charts and sell units," she recalls of her experience on a major label. "I just wanted to be able to move people with this gift I've been given... my voice." What emerged was a cohesive, conceptual, musical whole, which belied the rather unorthodox manner in which it was created. "The songs turned out to be more personal because I wasn't adhering to a strict set schedule," she realized. "In writing 'Hero' and 'Wild West,' I had no idea at the time I was going to leave California and move back to the Midwest. I feel like their very creation was predictive of the changes that were coming. The moment I decided not to make an album was when I really started to make the album. That took all the pressure off!" Lissie's tales of triumph and self-propelled adventure were inspired by strong females close and far from home: "Sun Keeps Risin'" was inspired by an aunt of Lissie's who passed away from ALS, while "Daughters" is a pro-feminist call-to-arms that took its cue from Liberian peace activist and Nobel Prize winner Leymah Gbowee, subject of the documentary "Pray the Devil Back to Hell." The funereal, dirge-like "Shroud" and the upbeat "Go for a Walk" shed light on the yin-and-yang nature of Lissie's personality, the first a meditation on depression and isolation, the latter a heartfelt affirmation of nature's power of renewal. "Stay" and "Together or Apart" detail the pain and pleasure of relationships, while "Don't You Give Up On Me" is a spiritualized self-pep talk, urging those around her to hang in there while she figures life out: "Don't you give up on me/As I dive into the dark/And slip into the endless sea." There's also the line "I left you on the coast for something only I can see" and that's just it, Lissie has a personal vision and it may be hard for others to understand at times but she has to follow it. Having recently purchased a farm on 10.7 acres in a small Iowa town, Lissie now boasts her own personal "Field of Dreams," just across the Mississippi River from Rock Island, Illinois, where Elisabeth Maurus grew up in possession of a strong rebellious streak surrounded by the memory of steamboats and railroads of past. Concentrating on converting the barn into a recording studio, getting used to her new pick-up truck and setting up beehives, Lissie is visibly content in her new life, eager to take on each new adventure and challenge that presents itself. With a career that has seen her open for renowned artist Lenny Kravitz (an early supporter), Tom Petty and even been asked to perform at Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore's wedding, Lissie has had a wealth of incredible experiences that have made her the confident and determined artist she is today. "I have a loyal, passionate fan base that every day is growing through its own power, not just an aggressive marketing campaign," she says. "I want to be an artist with longevity, which is an exciting prospect for me. I feel I'm in a really good place. In fact, I'm already planning a follow-up album, 'My Mild Midwest,'" she says with a laugh. 'My Wild West' will be released on February 12th, 2016, via Thirty Tigers in North America and Cooking Vinyl elsewhere.

SICK PUPPIES
SICK PUPPIES
with Devour The Day, One Less Reason
You hear it again and again. When one door closes, another one opens. However, its true - especially in the case of Sick Puppies. Weathering and persevering through potentially life-changing events, the gold-selling, chart-topping Los Angeles-based and Australian-bred hard rock outfit knew one thing. They were going to make more music as Sick Puppies. There was no question affirms Emma. We had no doubt that we wanted to continue. Mark and I got together and basically said, first and foremost, we love music. We love this band and our fans, and we have put so much into it, and we are not done and want to take it further. In order to do that, we needed to find the right member.Instead, the right member found them. With stints in several bands under his belt, Texas-born singer and guitarist Bryan Scott reached out to Emma via Facebook within days of the announcement. He sent her a video of himself performing, and she swiftly replied. Both Mark and I knew he was the guy right away - he was cool and he sounded great. It was a natural progression. We were totally on to something said EmmaSomething just overwhelmed me, admits Bryan. I had a feeling that I needed to reach out. They needed a singer and guitarist and thats what I am. I had always loved their music and as soon as I saw the post, I went home and immediately sent Emma a message. We clicked right off the bat. Music is in their blood - its who they are. They live and breathe it every day. Im the same way.Following a first dinner together at a Los Angeles burger spot, they hit the rehearsal studio together and began jamming. After nailing numerous favorites from the Sick Puppies catalog, they started writing new material over the next several months.2013s Connect saw the band embrace a more experimental side.On the last album, a lot of ideas came from many different places, but our core is rock and that is what we love! Mark says on this new album, were giving fans what they want, that classic Sick Puppies sound.I think fans will enjoy the resurgence of the heaviness, smiles Emma. We love that, so we went all the way with it.The group teamed up with producer and songwriter Mark Holman [Three Days Grace, Red, Shinedown, Halestorm, The Struts], to start working on their fourth full-length album. Recorded in Nashville and Los Angeles during 2015, the new music reflects the groups, incendiary interplay between Emma, Bryan & Mark.We were actually supposed to work with Mark Holman before, but it never materialized for whatever reason, Emma continues. It was the right moment in time, and he was the perfect producer to bring out the emotion in these songs.Locked and loaded with a muscular riff and booming percussion, Stick To Your Guns the bands first single announces the bands return with a literal bang. Bryans vocals careen from hypnotic to heavy as an arena-size refrain takes hold. You have to push regardless of what anyone tells you, he says. This was a big thing for us. You can pray, hope, or wish for something to happen, but at the end of the day, you have to stick to your guns, go out there, and believe. The song is meant to em- power. Then, theres the epic Where Do I Begin, which spotlights Emma and Bryans impressive harmonies in the chorus. For lyrical inspiration, the musicians actually turned to the diehard collective Sick Puppies World Crew.We looked on their Facebook and read everything, Emma recalls. We saw that everyone shared a lot in common, and it was quite touching. We grabbed a few descriptive words and came across this theme. A lot of people out there feel like theyre missing out. They hear things like, You can do it when youre ready. I think, Whats ready? If someones going to wait to be ready, they might wait their whole lives. Its about struggling with that and making a move. With its gnashing chant and pummeling groove Let Me Live introduced the album during the first teaser videowhich arrived to palpable audience fervor. Meanwhile, Walls sees Emmas vocals take center stage with gorgeously haunting delivery. It describes the painful feelings that come when a friend, family member, or someone youre very close to changes, disappoints, disappears, or drifts away, she sighs. Its just a snapshot of what I was feeling at that point in time. That kind of honesty has solidified a bond between the Sick Puppies and their fans since day one. To date, their breakout second full-length Tri-Polar has sold more than 500K albums, yielding 2 million single sales including the gold-certified Youre Going Down as well as rock smashes Maybe Riptide, and Odd One.All The Same the bands first hit single from their debut album, Dressed Up As Life became the soundtrack for the viral video Free Hugs campaign racking up tens of mil- lions of online views and saw them appear on Oprah, 60 Minutes, CNN, Good Morning America, and The Tonight Show.2013s Connect earned the band its highest Billboard Top 200 debut at #17 and yielded two top 10 singles at rock radio peaking at #2. Along the way, the trio played alongside the worlds biggest bands from Muse, The Killers, Deftones, Evanescence, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, Incubus to Tool. Now, their message is more powerful than ever. When people hear this, I want them to take away a feeling of new life, new passion, and new excitement from this band, Emma leaves off. Mark and I love what we do. We were going to forge ahead no matter what. We found the perfect guy, and were excited about this next chapter.

But far from being a break, these past six years have been some of the busiest and most productive in the provocative musician-producer-filmmaker-performance artists career. From acclaimed theater productions to her cinematic debut at the Toronto International Film Festival to the release of her first book, Peaches pushed herself further and with more artistic rewards than ever before during her time away from the studio. That work ethic should come as little surprise, though. This is Peaches were talking about, an artist whos managed to wield immeasurable influence over mainstream pop culture while still operating from outside of its confines, carving a bold, sexually progressive path in her own image thats opened the door for countless others to follow. Now, creatively refreshed and recharged, shes emerged from the studio in rare form with RUB, her fifth and most unequivocal album to date. Its an adventurous, audacious musical statement, the latest entry in a conversation Peaches opened up 15 years ago and the world may just now have finally caught up with.Since 2000, Ive been making a record for a year, and then touring it for two years over and over, Peaches explains of the impetus for her studio hiatus. After 10 years of doing that, I needed a change. I didnt feel like writing another album and touring it for two years again, so I was really excited to try new projects. That desire led to her one-woman production of Jesus Christ Superstar, redubbed Peaches Christ Superstar and mounted initially in Berlin before touring the world. It was an endurance performance, she explains, and a time for me to celebrate my actual singing voice, which I never pursued as Peaches. The Guardian hailed it as killer, raving that Peaches gets into the guts of the songs, extracting with utter sincerity every ounce of pathos and comedy, while SPIN praised the productions absurd beauty and The Globe and Mail applauded her vocals, which explode[d] with soulful power.Critics surprise may have stemmed from the fact that Peaches had spent the past decade pushing buttons and boundaries with a sexually-charged blend of electronic music, hip hop, and punk rock that she delivered via one of the most raw and creative stage shows in popular music. When she first emerged to international attention with The Teaches of Peaches, her 2000 debut album, single Fuck The Pain Away catapulted her into the spotlight and appeared everywhere from Sofia Coppolas Lost In Translation and 30 Rock to South Park and HBOs True Blood. Rolling Stone called the album surreally funny [and] nasty, and the Village Voice named it one of the years best. She followed it up with Fatherfucker, which further challenged and reversed issues of gender politics and sexual identity and featured an appearance by Iggy Pop. She was joined by Joan Jett, Josh Homme, Beth Ditto, and more on her 2006 call to revolution, Impeach My Bush, and by the time she returned with I Feel Cream three years later, The New York Times had dubbed her a genuine electro-clash heroine, though shed already transcended the genre tag and demonstrated an incisive artistic prowess far beyond her musical output. Uncut raved that her work brought together high art, low humour and deluxe filth [in] a hugely seductive combination. She looked back on it all in 2010 with Peaches Does Herself, an electro-rock opera spanning material from all four albums arranged as a semi-autobiographical narrative. It morphed into a film of the same title, which premiered at the TIFF in 2012 before traveling to more than 60 festivals around the world over the next two years. In another unexpected twist, she sang the title role in a production of Monteverdis epic 17th-century opera LOrfeo in Berlin, in addition joining Yoko Onos Plastic Ono Band for performances at the iconoclasts request and collaborating with Major Lazer, Le Tigre, REM, and more. The whole period is documented beautifully in the new book What Else Is In The Teaches Of Peaches, a collection of Holger Talinskis photos from at home and on the road, on-stage and behind-the-scenes, as Peaches conquered new artistic heights. Yoko Ono, Ellen Page, and Michael Stipe all contributed to the text, which offers unique insight into a side of the artist the audience has rarely seen.RUB begins where the book leaves off, in 2014, as Peaches headed into her newly-built garage studio in Los Angeles to begin more than a full year of work on the album, collaborating with longtime friend Vice Cooler. After six years, I was excited about my lyrics again, about what Peaches was, she explains. I felt more comfortable living out any idea I wanted to try. We spent ten hours a day making beats, and whatever stuck, I would write on and develop. The only agenda was to make the best album we could.Oozing with seductive rhythms and bedroom-rattling bass, the record opens with the semi-spoken hook of Close Up, delivered with an inimitable and impenetrable cool by Sonic Youths Kim Gordon in just one take. Peaches old collaborator Feist also returns on album closer I Mean Something, singing a hypnotic hook and lending a chillingly beautifully wordless melody. But in between those two guest appearances, this album is pure Peaches.Come with me / You know me / Feel free / Peaches, she raps with a hard-won swagger and confidence on the title track, which is as full of vivid, lewd imagery as anything shes ever written. Dick In The Air flips gender roles with an absurdist twist, as Peaches preaches, Im sick of hands in the air / And shake our asses like we dont care / Weve been shaking our tits for years / So lets switch positions no inhibitions before exhorting her audience to put your dick in the air. Similarly, on Vaginoplasty, she responds to a culture that measures manhood in inches but shames women for their sexuality with lines like my pussys big and Im proud of itmake you bow down to it til you drown in it.It doesnt stop at the music for Peaches, though. Im curating my whole visual lineup, she explains of her plans to once again direct and present videos for every track on the album with a slew of collaborators. Margaret Cho, designer Sarah Sachs from Moonspoon Saloon, A.L Steiner, Ryan Heffington, Kim Gordon, Vice Cooler, and more are all on tap for contributions to the series. The gorgeous, throbbing Light In Places was written for performance artist Empress Stah and her Stargasm show, the worlds only Laser Buttplug Aerial performance (Ive got light in places you didnt know it could shine), while Sick In The Head is a gritty electro-pop track influenced by Suicide, and the albums two breakup songsthe dark and menacing Free Drink Ticket and the insanely catchy pop song Dumbfuckfind Peaches addressing issues far more personal than political. In any relationship, theres that moment everybody has when you find out something and want to kill the other person, she explains. You get over it, but I wrote Free Drink Ticket in that moment. Its the most vulnerableand also the most angrysong Ive written in my life. The reality, though, is that everything is personal for Peaches. When I started, half the people just werent having it, so its incredible where we are right now, she says of her undeniable role in shaping of the current pop landscape. But I didnt do it for any reason other than that it was just what I really wanted to say.And thats whats in the teaches of Peaches.

The Faint
The Faint
with Gang Of Four, Pictureplane
Omaha, Nebraska, 2001. For a select assemblage of musicians and their fans, there was no better time and place. More specifically, its the city and year that gave us Danse Macabre.Due to a number of factors, most notably the Internets ability to build a global community at the click of a button, its unlikely that we will ever again experience a next-big-thing local music scene the way we saw places like Athens and Minneapolis blow up in the 80s and Seattle explode in the 90s. And when we look back at the time when music was still consumed in physical forms, Omaha will probably be remembered as the last city where a homegrown scene was developed organically with the assistance of local garages, basements, studios, clubs, and labels. The Omaha scene that weve come to know and love reaches as far back as the early 90s, but it wasnt until the turn of the millennium that the rest of the world got hip to what was going on in the middle of America. Around this timeactually, almost exactly 10 years to the day that this is being writtenI headed to eastern Nebraska with the magazine that I once edited, DIW, and we did our best to chronicle what we considered to be the most exciting and vibrant hotspot in the country. Sure, part of the appeal was that a city known mostly for a bajillionaire, the College World Series, and mail-order steak was suddenly dumping a huge pile of awesomeness into our record collections, but just as impressive was the fact that unlike most regional scenes, none of these bands sounded like the other. It was also difficult not to appreciate that despite the glaring spotlight on the town at the time, the family that made up Saddle Creek Recordsin some cases actual siblings, but mostly just childhood friendsseemed to be taking everything in stride. No enlarging egos, no jealous backstabbing, just a group of hardworking Midwesterners happy to be sharing their music and stories with a world that had finally started to listen. Though Bright Eyes Conor Oberst had already achieved some commercial success, by the summer of 2002 the top dog in town was The Faint, thanks to the record that you now hold in your hands.Though unquestionably confident and completely realized, Danse Macabre wasnt the album anyone could have expected from the band that debuted in 1998 with Media, a perfectly fine post-hardcore record that, aside from the personnel that made it, has nothing to do with anything else in The Faints catalog. After shocking everyone but themselves with the retro dance-rock found on the following years Blank-Wave Arcadethe first to feature synth player Jacob Thielethe group solidified its place in the undergrounds upper echelon with Danse Macabre, a dark-wave masterpiece made well before the 80s became a ubiquitous touchstone for contemporary bands with keyboards. In fact, it could easily be argued that the one-two punch of Blank-Wave Arcade and Danse Macabre helped usher in the era of the modern dance-rock act, predating bands like Franz Ferdinand, The Killers, and Bloc Party. From the middle of nowhere, The Faint had crafted a sound that was suddenly seemingly everywhere.Whereas Blank-Wave was a raw exercise in bringing The Faints ecstatic basement shows into the studio, Danse Macabre was a sleek, shiny vehicle meant to evoke bumping Berlin dance clubs. Never mind that they could only dream of German techno while putting up with Cher remixes nearly 5,000 miles away at Omahas gay bars, the only places in town offering even close to what the guys wanted to hear when they went out. There isnt a single reason why Danse Macabre is considered part of Saddle Creeks holy trinity (along with Cursives The Ugly Organ and Bright Eyes Im Wide Awake, Its Morning), but rather a whole host of them: the perfectly aggressive synth lines, Todd Finks (ne Baechle) menacingly effected vocals, the infectious dance beats, the intriguing bits of industrial and goth, and, at the heart of it all, strong songwriting featuring the kind of minor-key melodies that make singing along inevitable. Engineering and production by Mike Mogis as well as the addition of death-metal guitarist Dapose also helped raise the bar. And then theres the concept, replacing Blank-Waves sexually charged atmosphere with the attitude that you should DIY before you D-I-E. Or, as a wise guidance counselor once said: Do what you love and youll never work a day in your life. After all, some of their heroes were punk-rock do-it-yourselfers like Fugazi and Sonic Youth. We thought about the Dance of the Dead, the Danse Macabre, being the working-for-a-living people going through these choreographed motions while theyre working, says Thiele. Theyre doing a really stiff, boring dance that they dont realize. We decided at some point that that was the Dance of the Dead. The guys took their own advice, quitting their day jobs and focusing all of their energy on the band. They also decided not to work with any of the major labels that came sniffing around after Danse Macabre, and Saddle Creek similarly decided to keep things on a smaller scale. It meant that the next big thing never got as big as expected, yet it resulted in Omaha never being forced to compromise its art for the sake of commerce. The songs arent really preaching how to betheyre more like me setting myself straight, thinking about what I can say about the topic, says Fink. Theyre kind of therapy for me.The most dramatic track that skewers the formulaic American dream, with its ominous lines about the drones work hard before they die / and give up on pretty little homes, shows up at the beginning of the album, and its no surprise that many fans, myself included, consider Agenda Suicide to be Danse Macabres highest of highlights. Those who have caught the bands live showand oh what a spectacular, fog-filled, strobe-lit event it is!are familiar with MK12s animated video featuring a man, his soul-sucking cubicle job, and his ultimate demise. (Its also included on this reissues DVD.) More death and darkness await the listener as the nine-song album unfolds, including the harrowing Violent, written about Finks time spent at a seedy transient hotel in downtown Omaha (It was like daycare for mean, psychotic people, he says), as well as the self-explanatory Ballad of a Paralysed Citizen, described by Fink as a sad example of heroism gone wrong. But even with all of the records heavy topicssome of which, less than a month after their Aug. 21, 2001, release, inadvertently became even more poignant in our post-9/11 worldthe members of The Faint bristle at the thought of people assuming that they take themselves too seriously, to the point where they poke fun at themselves right there in the middle of Danse Macabre. Your Retro Career Melted is an acknowledgment that, yes, they know quite well that the core of their sound can be found in the past, and it also ends up serving as proof that melted is Finks favorite verb. True story. So here we are 11 years after Danse Macabre was released, and it still sounds as essential and influential as it did on initial impact. And this remastered reissue has expanded the story with the inclusion of great bonus tracks from the time, including Take Me to the Hospital from the Saddle Creek 50 comp, Dust featuring Oberst (who was a member of Norman Bailer, the band that eventually became The Faint), and covers of Sonic Youths Mote and Bright Eyes Falling Out of Love at This Volume. And a look back at a club-ready classic wouldnt be complete without a couple of remixes: Thin White Dukes take on The Conductor from the Danse Macabre Remixes record and Out Huds remix of Glass Danse round out the celebration. This retro career is alive and well. Lets dance.
