Ergonomics and Production

[ad_1]

The idea of production is to break down the work into simple and repeatable tasks that can be precisely performed by the same group of operators. If workstations and tasks are not designed properly, staff will face safety and health risks. Companies sometimes choose to ignore cost-related violations. IE should be aware of these issues and work with management to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

People

This area distinguishes industrial engineering from other engineering disciplines. IE has undergone several courses in psychology and social sciences to help them understand some of the workplace dynamics that managers involve. It also helps them to develop effective ways of dealing with these issues. IE's other concerns are how many people are required, whether the work is properly designed (ergonomics), whether the operation is safe, how much wages the work needs to pay, and so on.

Manpower requirements

To understand the manpower requirements that require a large amount of time learning and movement learning activities. According to the company's policy of setting work standards, one of several methods will be selected. Typical time studies or scheduled time systems (PTS) MTM, MOST, GSD.

Facility layout

IE is also responsible for arranging equipment and material storage locations for the factory. The key part of the analysis is how things flow through the factory. You don't want these parts to move on, then they must do it. Travel is a waste form that needs to be minimized. This is where lean production or Kiazen comes into play.

Machine

IE will look at the time required to set up the machine, the cycle time of the machine, the number of required operators, print size, power requirements, and ergonomic design. IE needs to integrate the device into the production environment. If the machine is running too fast, the company is buying excess capacity that may not be available. If the machine is slow, the company is injecting a bottleneck into the system. The bottleneck will adjust the output of this part of the system. These are things that IE needs to consider when choosing a machine.

Training

Standards are set using people who are familiar with the work and who have the skills needed to complete the job. If others will be expected to perform at this level, they will need to be trained.
