Nebraska's plains and native grasslands were once known as the "Great American Desert," making it a leader in domestic food, feed, and fuel production. From Omaha to Ogalala, the founding farmers, ranchers and agribusiness leaders in Nebraska endured hardship while nurturing kinship for several generations. Although many people continue to walk along the western path, others from around the world still stay and seek a home and land for cultivation. Co-founders and writers of the American Doorstop project, Jody L. Lamp and Melody Dobson, celebrated the state's forgotten and undescriptable agricultural history, highlighting more than a century and a half of agricultural, invention and innovation in the state of Cornhusker.
