Maynard James Keenan
Maynard James Keenan, front man of TOOL, A PERFECT CIRCLE and PUSCIFER, will embark on a book tour this fall to accompany the release of his authorized biography, "A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things".Keenan, who is known for not merely being protective about his personal life but at times pointedly cagey and misleading about his history, will participate in a moderated discussion about the book and his decision to share such intimate details about his life. The special evening will also include Keenan reading passages from "A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things" with a backdrop of never-before-seen photos and videos, as well as taking questions from the audience in what will be a rare moment of direct interaction between the elusive musician and the fans of his projects. "A Perfect Union Of Contrary Things" presents the outtakes, the scenes of disappointment and triumph, and the events that led Maynard James Keenan to take one step after the next, to change direction, to explore sometimes-surprising opportunities. Included throughout are passages in Keenan's own words, often-humorous anecdotes that illuminate the narrative. Commentary by his family members, friends, instructors, and industry colleagues rounds out the Sarah Jensen-penned memoir, with a foreword from American visionary artist and longtime Keenan friend Alex Grey. The biography arrives on November 8 via Backbeat Books, an imprint of Hal Leonard Performing Arts Publishing Group.Keenan told The Pulse Of Radio that Jensen was actually around for many of the formative events of his life. "She met me when I was doing music, which was in high school of course. High school plays, choir, all those performances. She saw me, you know, when I was going into the military, she saw me in all the sports activities that I was involved in, a lot of the poetry that I used to write back in high school, some of the publications that I was involved in back then...so she's seen all of that progression."

Loretta Lynn
To make it in this business, you either have to be first, great or different, says living legend Loretta Lynn. And I was the first to ever go into Nashville, singin it like the women lived it. Loretta first arrived in Nashville 55 years ago, signing her first recording contract on February 1, 1960, and within a matter of weeks, she was at her first recording session. A self-taught guitarist and songwriter, Lynn became one of the most distinctive performers in Nashville in the 1960s and 1970s, shaking things up by writing her own songs, many of which tackled boundary-pushing topics drawn from her own life experiences as a wife and mother. In addition to being first, she was also great and different. Loretta Lynns instantly recognizable delivery is one of the greatest voices in music history. As for different, no songwriter has a more distinctive body of work. In lyrics such as Dont Come Home A-Drinkin and Your Squaw Is on the War Path she refused to be any mans doormat. She challenged female rivals in You Aint Woman Enough and Fist City. She showed tremendous blue-collar pride in Coal Miners Daughter and Youre Lookin at Country. She is unafraid of controversy, whether the topic is sex (Wings Upon Your Horns), divorce (Rated X), alcohol (Wouldnt It Be Great) or war (Dear Uncle Sam). The Pill, her celebration of sexual liberation, was banned by many radio stations. Like the lady herself, Loretta Lynns songs shoot from the hip.As millions who read her 1976 autobiography or saw its Oscar winning 1980 film treatment are aware, Loretta is a Coal Miners Daughter who was raised in dire poverty in a remote Appalachian Kentucky hamlet. Living in a mountain cabin with seven brothers and sisters, she was surrounded by music as a child.I thought everybody sang, because everybody up there in Butcher Holler did, she recalls. Everybody in my family sang. So I really didnt understand until I left Butcher Holler that there were some people who couldnt. And it was kind of a shock. She famously married Oliver Doolittle Lynn when she was a barely schooled child of 13. Doo was a 21-year-old war veteran with a reputation as a hell raiser. When she was seven months pregnant with her first child, they moved far away from Appalachia to Custer, Washington. By age 18, she had four children (two more, twins, came along in 1964). Isolated from her native culture and burdened with domestic work, she turned to music for solace. Before I was singing, I cleaned house; I took in laundry; I picked berries. I worked seven days a week. I was a housewife and mother for 15 years before I was an entertainer. And it wasnt like being a housewife today. It was doing hand laundry on a board and cooking on an old coal stove. I grew a garden and canned what I grew. Thats whats real. I know how to survive.Doo heard her singing at her chores and declared that she sounded just as good as anyone he heard on the radio. He bought her a guitar and told her to learn how to play it and write songs with it. Loretta says her songs were so forthright because she didnt know any better. After he got me the guitar, I went out and bought a Country Song Roundup. I looked at the songs in there and thought, Well, this aint nothing. Anybody can do this. I just wrote about things that happened. I was writing about things that nobody talked about in public, and I didnt realize that they didnt. I was having babies and staying at home. I was writing about life. Thats why I had songs banned.Doo began pushing her to perform in area nightclubs. Executives from Zero Records heard her in a nightspot across the border in Vancouver, Canada. She soon recorded her debut single, Im a Honky Tonk Girl, for the little label. Loretta made herself a fringed cowgirl outfit, and she and Doo drove across the country in his old Mercury sedan promoting the single at station after station.Astonishingly, it worked. The disc hit the popularity charts in the summer of 1960 and brought the couple to Music City. She began singing regularly on the Grand Ole Opry after her debut on Oct. 15, 1960. The shows Wilburn Brothers took her under their wings. Teddy Wilburn helped to polish Lorettas startlingly original songwriting style. Brother Doyle Wilburn took a tape of her singing Fool #1 to producer Owen Bradley at Decca Records. Owen liked the song, but was already working with Kitty Wells, Goldie Hill, Brenda Lee and Patsy Cline and said he didnt need another female singer. Teddy told him that he couldnt have the song if he didnt sign its singer. As a result, Brenda had a smash pop hit with Fool #1, and Loretta got a Decca Records contract. Like everyone else who encountered her, Owen Bradley was smitten with Lorettas innocence, individualism, infectious wit, independent spirit, humorous candor, refreshing frankness and immense talent. In fact, he came to regard her as the female Hank Williams.Lorettas Decca chart debut came with 1962s Success. It became the first of her 51 top-10 hits and led to an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry cast later that year. Her fellow Opry cast member Patsy Cline taught her how to dress, style her hair and wear make-up. The Wilburns began featuring her on their nationally syndicated TV series. She sang a series of sassy domestic ditties with her childhood hero, Ernest Tubb. As a solo, she hit her stride with Wine, Women and Song (1964) and Happy Birthday (1965), both of them feisty, dont-step-on-me numbers. Shes the spokesman for the ladies, observed the late Owen Bradley. Loretta had a lot of different ideas, and they were very fresh. Womens lib was also coming on at that time. You have to be in the right place at the right time. And I think Loretta was standing right there. Most of my songs were from the womens point of view, Loretta wrote in her best-selling autobiography. Thats who Im singing about and singing to during my shows. And the girls know it.Most of my fan club is women, which is how I want it.Among Lorettas finest moments on disc are such empowering female statements as You Wanna Give Me Lift (1970), I Wanna Be Free (1971), Weve Come a Long Way Baby (1978), Hey Loretta (1973), Love Is the Foundation (1973) and the hilarious Ones on the Way (1972). She memorably romanced and sassed Conway Twitty in a number of hugely popular duet performances in 1970-1982. In 1967, she began picking up various Female Vocalist of the Year trophies. She and Conway also won a long string of Duet of the Year awards beginning in 1971, The industry showered her with BMI songwriting honors, Gold Record plaques, a Grammy Award and other accolades. In 1972, she became the first woman in history to win the Country Music Associations Entertainer of the Year trophy. By the mid-1970s, Loretta Lynn was an undeniable superstar. She was featured on the covers of Newsweek (1973), Redbook (1974) and many other mainstream national publications. With her kookie humor, scrambled grammar and unpretentious manner, she became a TV talk-show favorite.Loretta continued to dominate the charts as the 70s drew to a close, scoring major hits with 1976s Somebody Somewhere, 1977s Out of My Head and Back in My Bed and 1979s Ive Got a Picture of Us on My Mind. Her 1982 smash hits I Lie and Making Love From Memory carried her into the new decade. One of the most remarkable things about Loretta Lynn is how she renews her creativity time and again. Two years after she was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1983, she was back on the charts with the hit, Heart Dont Do This to Me. In 1988, the year she entered the Country Music Hall of Fame, Loretta recorded with k.d. lang. She earned a Gold Record in 1994 with Honky Tonk Angels, a trio CD with Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette. Doo died in 1996. Numb with grief, Loretta admits that she was lost in a fog for more than a year. But she came back again with a 2000 CD titled Still Country. She also returned to the concert trail. Its a good thing, too, she says. Because if I hadnt, I would have been nuts by now. I would have been completely nuts.Loretta published a second memoir, Still Woman Enough, in 2002. She was honored at The Kennedy Center in 2003, yet pushed forward again the following year by winning two Grammy Awards for Van Leer Rose, a collaboration with rocker Jack White. Also in 2004, she published a book of recipes and anecdotes titled Youre Cookin It Country.Lynn is also one of the most awarded musicians of all time. She has been inducted into more music Halls of Fame than any female recording artist, including The Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and was the first woman to be named the Country Music Associations Entertainer of the Year in 1972. Lynn received Kennedy Center Honors in 2003 and a Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. She has won four Grammy Awards (including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010) and sold more than 45 million records worldwide. In March 2016, Legacy Recordings will release FULL CIRCLE, Lorettas first new studio album in over ten years. Produced by Patsy Lynn Russell and John Carter Cash, and recorded at the Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee, FULL CIRCLE will take listeners on a journey through Loretta's musical story, from the Appalachian folk songs and gospel music she learned as a child, to new interpretations of her classic hits and country standards, to songs newly-written for the project. That same month, PBS will also broadcast the the nationwide premiere of a new documentary about Lorettas remarkable life and career called American Masters Loretta Lynn: Still a Mountain Girl. The film will explore the country legends hard-fought road to stardom. From her Appalachian roots to the Oscar-winning biopic of her life, "Coal Miners Daughter," Lynn struggled to balance family and her music career and is still going strong over 50 years later. Loretta Lynns life is still a work in progress. Shes still out there on the road, still writing songs and still recording them as only she can. I aint a star a star is something up in the night sky, says Loretta Lynn. People say to me, Youre a legend. Im not a legend. Im just a woman.

George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic
with Johnny Popcorn
George Clinton (born July 22, 1941) is an American musician and the principal architect of P-Funk. He was the mastermind of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic during the 1970s and early 1980s, and is a solo funk artist as of 1981. He has been called one of the most important innovators of funk music, next to James Brown and Sly Stone. Clinton is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.Early lifeClinton was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey, and currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida. In Plainfield, he ran a barber salon, where he straightened hair, and soon formed a doo wop group, inspired by Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, called The Parliaments. For a period in the 1960s Clinton was a staff songwriter for Motown. The Parliaments eventually found success under the names Parliament and Funkadelic in the seventies. These two bands combined elements of bands/musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, Cream and James Brown while exploring different sounds, technology, and lyricism. 1980sIn 1982, Clinton signed to Capitol Records as a solo artist and as the P-Funk All-Stars, releasing Computer Games that same year. "Loopzilla" hit the Top 20 R&B charts, followed by "Atomic Dog", which reached #1 R&B, but peaked at #101 on the pop chart. In the next four years, Clinton released three more studio albums (You Shouldn't-Nuf Bit Fish, Some of My Best Jokes Are Friends and R&B Skeletons in the Closet) as well as a live album, Mothership Connection (Live from the Summit, Houston, Texas) and charting three singles in the R&B Top 30, "Nubian Nut", "Last Dance", and "Do Fries Go with That Shake?". In 1985, he was recruited by the Red Hot Chili Peppers to produce their album Freaky Styley, because the band members were huge fans of George Clinton and funk in general. Clinton, in fact, wrote the vocals and lyrics to the title track, which was originally intended by the band to be left an instrumental piece. The album was not a commercial success at the time, but has since sold several copies after the Chili Peppers became popular years later.Though Clinton's popularity had waned by the mid 1980s, he experienced something of resurgence in the early 1990s, as many rappers cited him as an influence and began sampling his songs. Alongside James Brown, George Clinton is considered to be one of the most sampled musicians ever.In 1989, Clinton released The Cinderella Theory on Paisley Park, Prince's record label. This was followed by Hey Man, Smell My Finger. Clinton then signed with Sony 550 and released T.A.P.O.A.F.O.M. (The Awesome Power of a Fully Operational Mothership) in 1996, having reunited with several old members of Parliament and Funkadelic.1990s to 2000s1990s, Clinton appeared in films such as Graffiti Bridge (1990), House Party (1990), PCU (1994), Good Burger (1997) and The Breaks (1999). Most recently he appeared as the voice of The Funktipus, the DJ of the Funk radio station Bounce FM in the 2004 video game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, in which his song "Loopzilla" also appeared. Rapper Dr. Dre sampled most of his beats to create his G-Funk music era. He's also worked with Tupac Shakur on the song "Can't C Me" from the album All Eyez on Me; Outkast on the song "Synthesizer" from the album Aquemini; Redman on the song "J.U.M.P." from the album Malpractice; Souls of Mischief on "Mama Knows Best" from the album Trilogy: Conflict, Climax, Resolution; Killah Priest on "Come With me" from the album Priesthood and the Wu Tang Clan on "Wolves" from the album "8 Diagrams". In 1994 he collaborated with British band Primal Scream on "Funky Jam" from their LP "Give Out But Don't Give Up".Clinton founded a record label called The C Kunspyruhzy in 2005.He had a cameo appearance in the season-two premiere of the CBS television sitcom How I Met Your Mother, on September 18, 2006."You're Thinking Right", the theme song for The Tracey Ullman Show, was written by Clinton. He appeared on the intro to Snoop Dogg's Tha Blue Carpet Treatment album, released in 2007. He also appeared in the film PCU (Jeremy Piven, David Spade) and played a concert for the big party. In 2008, George appeared on the reality show Gone County 3, where seven celebrities move into a Nashville mansion and compete to cross over into the country music scene. With his Gone Country experience, George gave birth to his country song; Time Is, which will be released on his C Kunspyruhzy label. On September 16, 2008, Clinton released his next solo album George Clinton and His Gangsters of Love on Shanachie Records. Largely a covers album, Gangsters features guest appearances from Sly Stone, El DeBarge, Red Hot Chili Peppers, RZA, Carlos Santana, gospel singer Kim Burrell and more. George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic tour 200 days out of the year in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA.

Kris Kristofferson with Rodney Crowell, John Flynn and guests
Kris Kristofferson
Kris Kristofferson remembers immortality.
"Nothing could kill me," he says, recalling his 1960s days in Nashville, when he roared for years on end, somehow finding time amidst the chaos to change the language of country music. "I was rolling cars and wrecking motorcycles, drinking and doing everything I could to die early. But it didn't work."
Didn't work at all. Kristofferson is 76 now and on his 28th album, the aptly titled Feeling Mortal.
Kristofferson is a Country Music Hall of Famer who ranks among the most versatile of American talents. He's been a Golden Gloves boxer, a Rhodes scholar, a college football player, an acclaimed actor, a military officer, a helicopter pilot, a Grammy-winner, a screw-up and an icon, and now he finds himself releasing the third Don Was-produced album in a twilight years trilogy. Feeling Mortal follows 2009's Closer To The Bone and 2006's This Old Road in examining hard-won grace.
"Wide awake and feeling mortal," he writes on the title track. "At this moment in the dream/ That old man there in the mirror/ And my shaky self-esteem."
"Going back to the beginning, the songs have been reflections of where I was at that point in my life," he says. "I always try to be as honest as I can in the songwriting, otherwise there's no point in doing it: I might as well be doing an advertising job or something. And what I'm finding, to my pleasant surprise at this age, is that I'm more inclined to laughter than tears. I hope I'll feel this creative and this grateful until they throw dirt over me."
Kristofferson did not always imagine this would be so. "If I look like a mean old man, that's what I am," he sang, back when he was still immortal and when he was sometimes a mean-feeling younger man. But now he's mostly truthful and thankful, as he sings, "For the laughter and the loving/ That I'm living with today."
That doesn't mean Feeling Mortal works as anyone's greeting card of soft-peddled feelings. "Just Suppose" is another look in the mirror, a negotiation with shame's reflection. "Castaway" is a cry of the heart, and a memory of a long-ago scene Kristofferson witnessed from the air, when he was flying helicopters over the Gulf of Mexico. And "My Heart Was The Last One To Know" is a harrowing old song, written by Kristofferson and genius poet/author/cartoonist/songwriter Shel Silverstein and previously recorded by Connie Smith.
"Shel was the only person I consistently wrote songs with," Kristofferson says. "He was a fantastic writer. We did about a dozen songs, and usually he'd write down some titles and a description of what he was thinking about, and I'd go off and come back with a song."
The album ends with "Ramblin' Jack," a song ostensibly about Kristofferson's folk-singing friend Ramblin' Jack Elliott. Kristofferson approached the song as something of a self-penned co-write, inspired and begun by his younger self and finished in the present and mortal day. The second verse is the new one: "And if he knew how good he'd done/ Every song he ever sung/ I believe he'd truly be surprised."
"Ramblin' Jack's one of those people whose whole life was music," Kristofferson says. "He's like William Blake and Bob Dylan and other people who just believed and lived for whatever poetry they could come up with. That's probably the thing I was trying to be."
That's the thing he was, and the thing he is.
In the Nashville beginning, Kristofferson threw away a promising military career in favor of life as what he sometimes calls, "A songwriting bum." He had excelled at most everything he'd ever tried, save for singing and songwriting, but it was the singing and the writing that called to him. He wound up penning classics including "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Sunday Morning Coming Down" and "For The Good Times," as well as a slew of other empathetic, incisive gems. Kristofferson—along with contemporaries Tom T. Hall, Mickey Newbury, Willie Nelson and John Prine—enhanced the scope of country music songwriting, focusing on layering, nuance, empathy and emotional truth.
"A major reason for Kris' enduring popularity is that he's always been very honest and open about revealing his inner life," says producer Don Was, who has worked with Kristofferson for the past 17 years. "'Sunday Morning Coming Down' is a brutally frank, first-person narrative that just happens to hit a common nerve among millions of people, and that's why Kris is such a great artist. I suspect a whole lot of folks will be able to relate to Feeling Mortal, now and for years to come. It's totally in keeping with the body of Kris' oeuvre."
Kristofferson and Was spent three days recording Feeling Mortal, cutting 20 songs and picking 10, then bolstering the basic tracks with stellar instrumental work from guitarist Mark Goldenberg, pedal steel master Greg Leisz, keyboardist Matt Rollins, violinist and vocalist Sara Watkins, bassist Sean Hurley and drummer Aaron Sterling.
They emerged with a piece of work that Was suggests is "One of Kris' finest albums."
Kristofferson isn't one to arm-wrestle with his own legacy, or to set his truths of today against the truths of his old-and-gone immortal self, but he's pleased that a life that has been sustained by the product of his own imagination remains fruitful.
Above all, Kristofferson is happy to be happy, grateful to be grateful, and wholly unwilling to take the credit for the wondrous way it's all worked out. In the end, Feeling Mortal is a melodic note of gratitude, from creator to Creator.
"God Almighty, here I am," he sings. "Am I where I ought to be? I've begun to soon descend, like the sun into the sea/ And I thank my lucky stars, from here to eternity/ For the artist that You are/ And the man you made of me."

Lakefest
Lakefest was born unofficially on April 9th 2011 when Croft Farm Waterpark hosted its inaugural music and cider festival.
The 2011 effort was essentially a giant cider festival (over 32 different ciders available and real ales aplenty) accompanied by some great music from The Wurzels, Avert Francis and The Roving Crows. Over 9000 pints of cider were enjoyed by revellers that shared a super special day in the sunshine. It was an epic experience for everyone and the so-called 'lads' (organisers) chose to grow things a little in 2012…Lakefest was born!
Memories are made amidst the magical scenery and the return of familiar faces year upon year is why we started all of this in the first place; along with the continued growth of new revellers that head to us each year. It's been a meteoric rise but we have vowed to stick to the friendly, slightly hippie West Country roots and continue to build a festival that is friendlier and more fun than any other.
As you can probably tell by the price of the ticket, the 'lads' are more interested in legacy and memories than financial gain. So much so, the organisers publish their personal telephone numbers if people want to talk to them. That's unheard of but testament to the beliefs of the organisers.
Our fifth year sees Lakefest relocate to the spectacular Eastnor Castle, Ledbury – where else, of course? Lakefest do treat all their guests as royalty, after all.
The plan isn't to be a Reading or Glastonbury or even replicate The Big Chill but to build something special for people that want to laugh, drink, laugh, dance, laugh and party with all their friends and family. A Latitude without the commercial edge has always been the vision and will remain so.
Our promise to you? An awesome weekend filled with world-class music, more activities than you can shake a stick at and a bar to help with the dancing… whatever the weather. Oh, and few extra special surprises along the way.
See you there!

The Temptations and The Four Tops
Two legendary supergroups – together again! From "Baby, I Need Your Loving" to "My Girl," enjoy an evening full of your favorite Motown memories from two classic 1960s hitmakers.
The Temptations: For more than fifty years, The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits, and sold-out performances throughout the world.
"The crowds are bigger, the sales are sizzling," says one industry report. "The outpouring of affection for this super-group has never been greater".
The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn't until 1964 however, that the Smokey Robinson written-and-produced "The Way You Do the things You Do" turned the guys into stars.
An avalanche of hits followed, many of which..."My Girl," for instance...attained immortality. "It's Growing," "Since I Lost My Baby;," "Get Ready," "Ain't Too Proud to Beg," "Beauty Is only Skin Deep," "I Wish It Would Rain"...the hits kept coming.
The classic lineup was Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin. Beyond the fabulous singing, The temps became known for smooth stepping and flawless presentations. The Temptations Walk became a staple of American style. Flair, flash and class. Millions of fans saw their Temptations as cultural heroes.
When the sixties and seventies turned political, The Temps got serious. They changed their tone, dress and music. Producer Norman Whitfield led the way. His Temptations hits, many featuring Dennis Edwards who had replaced David Ruffin, burned with intensity. "Runaway Child" "Cloud Nine," "I Can't Get Next to You," "Papa Was a Rolling Stone", and "Psychedelic Shack" still smolder.
Other stellar singers...Richard Street, Ali-Ollie Woodson, Theo Peoples...joined and adding their luster to the groups' growing fame.
No matter the change in personnel, The Temptations remained true to The Temptations tradition. They survived the whims of fashion, whether disco or techno, and stuck to their guns.
"Great singing," says Otis, "will always prevail."
In the eighties, The Temps prevailed with smashes like the Otis Williams' penned "Treat Her Like A Lady."
Then in the nineties, another Temptation explosion:
It began with their appearance on Motown 25 in 1983; it continued with the NBC mini-series that chronicled the group's history, a ratings triumph over two nights in prime time. An Emmy Award followed.
Then came a series of acclaimed records:
Temptations Miniseries,1998- Number 1 rated for two nights. Nominated for 5 Emmys, including best miniseries and winner of 1.
For Lovers Only, a collection of love standards, termed an instant classic by critics, remains among the most cherished of all Temptations recordings.
Phoenix Rising, went through the roof, a platinum-plus mega-hit featuring "Stay," the Narada Michael Walden produced song that topped the charts.
Ear Resistible, nailed a Grammy and a legion of new fans.
Awesome, released in 2001 is The Temptations at their freshest, strongest, and most appealing.
Reflections, was released in 2005, nominated for a Grammy and brought to the world The Temptations versions of some of Motown's greatest songs.
Get Ready, This DVD was released in 2006- One of the largest selling music DVD ever
The Temptations Musical, 2016 Musical based on Otis Williams's book & mini-series.
The current lineup consists of: Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Larry Braggs, Willie Greene Jr.
"The more we change," says veteran Ron Tyson, "the more we stay true to ourselves. We're about singing straight-up soul. It's a style that will live on forever."
"The Temps have always been known for great lead singer's", says Williams. "Today we have four of the greatest leads in the proud history of the group."
The soaring voice of Philadelphia born and raised Ron Tyson, perhaps the best high tenor in the business.
Terry Weeks, who grew up in Alabama and spent eight years in the Air Force before his chance encounter with Otis. After an A Cappella audition on a Hollywood street corner; Otis was so impressed and brought him into The Temptation family.
Larry Braggs is passionate, powerful and very spiritual. These are also the amazing attributes of the voice of this two-time Grammy-nominated artist. Cut from the same cloth as some of the world's greatest vocalists, Larry has one of the most notable voices in the business. With a vocal range over three octaves and a command of the stage like no other, Larry has become one of the most electrifying entertainers on tour. This has gained him the respect and praise of his peers and fans all over the world.
Willie Greene is a Bass vocalist who was born in Birmingham, Alabama. In the early-sixties Willie first saw The Temptations on The Lloyd Thaxton Show. They sang "The Way you do The Things you do" and "Get Ready". Even though I was just a child… I knew that I was a "Temptation Forever!" Throughout my career I have had the honor, privilege and pleasure of recording and performing with Lyle Lovett, Ry Cooder, Dolly Parton, John Fogerty, George Harrison(The Beatles)....This opportunity to become a part of the "Great Temptation Legacy" is truly God's greatest musical gift to me! I would like to thank Mr. Otis Williams for his tenacity in keeping the group together and granting me this opportunity!
"Our challenge," says Williams, "is to live in the present while respecting the past. Our past is filled with riches only a fool would discard. At the same time, we thrive on competition. As a Motowner, I grew up in the most competitive musical atmosphere imaginable. But we also understand that for a group with history, no matter how glorious that history might be, reinvention is the name of the game."
"When I tell people we are God's group," says Otis, a remarkable modest man, "I don't mean it arrogantly. It's just that we have been tested time and again and keep coming back. We have suffered the death of so many legendary singers...Paul Williams, David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin. Other's like Dennis Edwards, Richard Street, Ali-Ollie Woodson and Theo Peoples have left, and yet our unity is tighter, our sound brighter and our popularity greater. Someone has watched over this group. Someone has protected our integrity. Someone has said...just go on singing and it'll get better."
And so THE TEMPTATIONS go on.......and on.....and on........
The Four Tops:
The quartet, originally called the Four Aims, made their first single for Chess in 1956, and spent seven years on the road and in nightclubs, singing pop, blues, Broadway, but mostly jazz—four-part harmony jazz. When Motown's Berry Gordy Jr. found out they had hustled a national "Tonight Show" appearance, he signed them without an audition to be the marquee act for the company's Workshop Jazz label. That proved short-lived, and Stubbs' powerhouse baritone lead and the exquisite harmonies of Fakir, Benson, and Payton started making one smash after another with the writing-producing trio Holland-Dozier-Holland.
Their first Motown hit, "Baby I Need Your Loving" in 1964, made them stars and their sixties track record on the label is indispensable to any retrospective of the decade. Their songs, soulful and bittersweet, were across-the-board successes. "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)," a no. 1 R&B and Pop smash in 1965, is one of Motown's longest-running chart toppers; it was quickly followed by a longtime favorite, "It's The Same Old Song" (no. 2 R&B/no. 5 pop). Their commercial peak was highlighted by a romantic trilogy: the no. 1 "Reach Out I'll Be There," "Standing In The Shadows Of Love" (no. 2 R&B/no. 6 pop) and "Bernadette" (no. 3 R&B/no. 4 pop)—an extraordinary run of instant H-D-H classics. Other Tops hits from the decade included "Ask The Lonely," "Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over)," "Something About You," "You Keep Running Away," "7-Rooms Of Gloom" and their covers of "Walk Away Renee" and "If I Were A Carpenter." The group was also extraordinarily popular in the U.K.
After H-D-H split from Motown, producer Frank Wilson supervised the R&B Top 10 hits "It's All In The Game" and "Still Water (Love)" at the start of the seventies. The Tops also teamed with Motown's top girl group, the Supremes, post-Diana Ross. Billing themselves The Magnificent Seven for a series of albums, they hit with a cover of "River Deep - Mountain High."
When Motown left Detroit in 1972 to move to Los Angeles, the steadfast Tops decided to stay at home, and with another label. They kept up a string of hits with ABC-Dunhill for the next few years: "Ain't No Woman (Like The One I've Got)," a Top 5 hit; the Top 10 "Keeper Of The Castle"; and the R&B Top 10's "Are You Man Enough (from the movie Shaft In Africa)," "Sweet Understanding Love," "One Chain Don't Make No Prison" (later covered by Santana), "Midnight Flower" and the disco perennial "Catfish."
In 1980 the group moved to Casablanca Records. The following year they were at no. 1 again, with "When She Was My Girl," making them one of the few groups to have hits in three consecutive decades. They also scored R&B Top 40s with the ballads "Tonight I'm Gonna Love You All Over" and "I Believe In You And Me," the original version of the 1996 Whitney Houston smash. And the Tops were heard in the film Grease 2 with "Back To School Again." By 1983, riding the wave of the company's 25th anniversary celebration, the Tops were back with Motown and H-D-H. The reunion resulted in the R&B Top 40 hits "I Just Can't Walk Away" and "Sexy Ways."
They signed with Arista later in the decade, and there they racked up their final solo Top 40 hit, "Indestructible," which was the theme of the 1988 Summer Olympics. That year they also partnered with Aretha Franklin, a longtime friend from Detroit, for the Top 40 R&B "If Ever A Love There Was." During this period, Stubbs stepped out and gained notoriety for voicing the man-eating plant Audrey II in the film musical Little Shop Of Horrors, for which he sang the cult classic "Mean Green Mother From Outer Space."
In 1990, with 24 Top 40 pop hits to their credit, the Four Tops were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Though they would no longer have hits on record, the group continued to be a hit in concert, touring incessantly, a towering testament to the enduring legacy of the Motown Sound they helped shape and define. Following Payton's death in 1997, the group briefly worked as a trio until Theo Peoples, a former Temptation, was recruited to restore the group to a quartet. When Stubbs subsequently grew ill, Peoples became the lead singer and former Motown artist-producer Ronnie McNeir was enlisted to fill Payton's spot. In 2005, when Benson died, Payton's son Roquel replaced him.
For Rolling Stone's 2004 article "The Immortals – The Greatest Artists Of All Time," Smokey Robinson remembered: "They were the best in my neighborhood in Detroit when I was growing up (and) the Four Tops will always be one of the biggest and the best groups ever. Their music is forever."

We Move marks a breathtaking and radical push forward for Irish artist James Vincent McMorrow, in what is his most expensive and ambitious work to date. Unlike his previous releases, We Move was written in constant transition. In early 2015, McMorrow decamped to Los Angeles for 4 surreal months, wanting to experience something totally alien to any way he'd ever worked before. It was in those 4 months that the new songs began to xrystalize and come squarely into view, among other revelations. The album's backbone was formed by three key producers that McMorrow met during his travels who fully understood what he was trying to achieve.
Earlier this year, his songs surpassed 100 million streams, his cover of "Wicked Games" was used in HBO's Game of Thrones season 6 trailer. The Dublin-born singer/songwriter rose to fame upon the release of his platinum debut album Early in The Morning, reaching #1 in his home country of Ireland, silver status in the UK, and earning a Choice Music Prize and EBBA award nomination in the process.
Sophomore album Post Tropical secured his place as a globally recognized musician, garnering a second nomination for the Choice Music Prize. It also led to multiple sold out tours across the world. While touring for Post Tropical, McMorrow appeared at Cochella, Electric Picnic, Edmonton Folk Festival, Gentlemen of the Road (Mumford & Sons), Latitude, and Lowlands Festival, among others.

Tour of the Woolworth Building
Untapped Cities is excited to offer this exclusive tour of the normally off-limits Woolworth Building led by architect Cass Gilbert's great granddaughter, Helen Post Curry, who runs the Woolworth Building tours. In addition to a guided visit through the spectacular lobby, we will also visit the cellar level where the bank vault is located and where the former entrances to the subway are, and provide special access to the gorgeous mezzanine level. Cass Gilbert was Curry's paternal paternal great grandfather and she began running tours in the Woolworth Building on the 100th anniversary of the landmark. As Curry says herself, "there are so many behind-the-scenes "secrets" about the Woolworth Building" and we're excited to share them with you on this special, insiders tour. The tour will meet outside of the main entrance of the Woolworth Building Tour length: 1 hour Here are pictures of the Cathedral-esque Woolworth Building Lobby, and the old vault hidden in its basement
