In a reprise of their collaboration that the Washington Post calls "supernatural," pianist Chick Corea and banjo star Béla Fleck bring their telepathic magic to the third night of Corea's season-opening engagement in celebration of their new live duo album, Two. As restlessly creative spirits who are always on the lookout for new sonic directions, Corea and Fleck seemed destined to work together. But the fateful encounter that led to their GRAMMY-nominated 2007 duo album, The Enchantment, delivered far more than anyone had the right to expect. With both players contributing original tunes to the project, they inspired each other to explore taut, intricate, and melodically verdant territory. The music came into even sharper focus in the album's aftermath, when they expanded their repertoire while touring widely together over the course of several months. The duo's new Concord Jazz release, Two, is culled from recordings made during this momentous tour, and in addition to material from the new recording, they'll be bringing new music and new discoveries to this reunion, a meeting of creative giants who continue to stretch stylistic and conceptual boundaries.
